The connection and difference between gearbox and reducer

1、 Different structure
Gearbox: the structure of gearbox is mainly composed of transmission mechanism and control mechanism.
Reducer: the structure of reducer is mainly composed of transmission parts (gear or worm), shaft, bearing, box and accessories.
2、 Different equipment used
Gearbox: the gearbox is generally used for the transmission equipment with high speed.
Reducer: reducer is generally used for transmission equipment with low speed and large torque.

3、 Different principles
Gearbox: the gearbox mainly uses the principle of speed reduction of gear transmission. Different gear pairs in the gearbox are operated by the control mechanism. For example, at low speed, let the gear pair with large transmission ratio work, while at high speed, let the gear pair with small transmission ratio work.
Reducer: the reducer uses the motor, internal combustion engine or other high-speed running power to engage the large gear on the output shaft with the small number of teeth on the input shaft of the reducer to achieve the purpose of deceleration.
4、 Different uses
Gearbox: gearbox is a mechanism used to change the speed and torque from the engine.
Reducer: the reducer is an independent closed transmission device between the prime mover and the working machine, which is used to reduce the speed and increase the torque to meet the work needs.
